2024 JUNE -DOG LOOP TEMPO #2
WHAT DO ALL THESE #s MEAN & HOW USEFUL ARE THEY?
> Solid indicator of fitness for experienced runners.
> Great chance for new runners to try to dial in tempo paced effort.
> Helpful to begin grouping runners into smaller training groups and assigning paces for workouts.
> We all want to run fast, but keep in mind that places in races matters more than times in XC.
> Top 7 guys average of 7:47 on average delivers 16:10 average PBs and 25th average place at state
> Tess and Savannah ran the fastest dog loop in West history. Old record was 8:59
> Girls team might average sub 19:00 for top 5 on a fast course. School record is 19:20
THINGS TO CONSIDER?
> Change in '24 1st dog loop vs 2nd. Vs '23 & previous years
> For new runners & freshmen, how do your result match up with what older runners at your age?
> Do you feel like you ran a tempo effort? Could you have run another loop at the same pace?
> Missed the first one or want another chance? We will do another dog loop tempo in July.
> Projections for '24 PB 5K times based off 1st tempo and LY track results are just estimates.
> Some of you will run much faster. Some maybe not as fast.
